I Put a Hit on You (2014)

In the aftermath of a love story gone awry, Harper and Ray find themselves in a situation more twisted than their failed romance. Following a two-year courtship, Harper's dreams are shattered when Ray rejects her heartfelt marriage proposal. In the depths of her post-rejection, alcohol-fueled despair, she finds herself tangled in a dangerous web of her own making. In the haze of her drunken stupor, Harper fears she may have impulsively placed an online ad to trade a hitman's service for a "paper clip" - the engagement ring she had purchased herself, originally intended for Ray to present to her. An anonymous response to the ad leaves Harper panic-stricken, unable to reach the stranger who now knows Ray's name, and possesses her cell phone number and email address. Frantic for Ray's safety, Harper confesses her reckless act to him. Initially dismissive, Ray's nonchalance turns to terror as they realize the potential danger lurking close to home, based on the responder's disturbingly detailed knowledge of their lives. As fear seeps into their once-familiar surroundings, every oddity becomes a potential sign of the hitman's presence, leaving them bracing for an imminent attack. Thriving in this atmosphere of suspense and paranoia, Harper and Ray are forced to navigate through their tumultuous past. As they teeter on the edge of life and death, they have a chance to dissect their relationship, confronting their true emotions and reflecting on their shared history. As the threat of the hitman looms over them, they must confront not only their external danger but also their internal demons, revealing a tale of love, regret, and suspense.
