I Do (2006)

In the heart of Paris, 43-year-old Luis Costa, fondly known as "Pipou," revels in his bachelorhood and his flourishing career as a perfume creator. His life is a whirl of one-night stands and the intoxicating aura of success. However, Luis's tranquil existence is constantly rattled by his overpowering family matriarchy - his mother Geneviève and his five sisters, Catherine, Axelle, Carole, Maxine and Marie. They have one mission: to get Luis hitched, and they are determined to find a bride for him amongst their circle of friends. During a lunch with his best friend Pierre-Yves, Luis learns about a waitress, heartbroken and desolate because her fiancé deserted her just days before their marriage. Inspired by her predicament, Luis concocts a plan to rid himself of the family pressure. He decides to hire a woman to masquerade as his fiancée, who would then abandon him at the altar, thus freeing him from his family's matrimonial ambitions. The woman in question is Pierre's sister, Emma, an antique furniture restorer with a dream of adopting a child from Brazil. Emma is hired to play the soon-to-be bride and agree to the scheme of leaving Luis at the altar. However, the plan backfires when Luis's family becomes smitten with Emma. When she fails to appear at the wedding, the shock sends Luis's mother to the hospital while his sisters point accusing fingers at him. Desperate, Luis hires Emma once again, this time to act out a less appealing persona, intending his family to loathe her. Amidst these tangled webs of deceit, Luis finds himself falling for Emma. When his plan succeeds and Emma departs, he longs for her. The question remains: is it too late for him to confess his love for Emma? And what about Emma's dream of adopting a child from Brazil? Luis's cunning plan spins a tale of unexpected twists, love, and family dynamics that keeps the audience guessing until the very end.
