Plot

In the chilling wake of a high school massacre, Deanna Cartwright is left grievously injured, with nine others, including the shooter, lying dead. The daunting task of untangling this bloody web falls to Det. Martin Van Zandt, who is desperate to find someone to answer for the atrocity. His gaze lands upon Alicia Browning, a deeply troubled loner who was the sole witness to the entire nightmare, making her both a vital key to understanding the crime and a potential suspect. Alicia, already living on society's fringes, finds her life further complicated when she is reluctantly coerced by the school principal to visit Deanna, who is still confined to the hospital. Deanna's world, filled with privilege and popularity, starkly contrasts Alicia's solitary existence. However, beneath Deanna's cheerful exterior, she is grappling with the emotional and physical wounds inflicted by the shooting. As the days roll on, Deanna and Alicia, bound by their shared trauma, form an unexpected bond. In the shadow of an overwhelming tragedy, this unlikely friendship becomes their beacon of hope, their lifeline in a sea of sorrow.
