Plot

In the heart of a bustling, working-class district in Los Angeles, a weary and disillusioned man named Henry Poole purchases a simple house with little concern for its bare-bones amenities. Seeking refuge in his old neighborhood, Henry is determined to spend his perceived final days in solitude, his only companions being bottles of liquor and boxes of pizza. His solace is abruptly disrupted when a stubborn brown stain from recent stucco work appears on his patio wall. To Henry's growing vexation, his neighbor, Esperanza, is convinced she sees the divine face of Jesus within the discolored blot. This 'miracle' draws a curious crowd, including a priest, rupturing his precious solitude and turning Henry's retreat into an unexpected spectacle. Simultaneously, he becomes aware of his private conversations being echoed across the fence, emanating from a tape recorder clutched by a silent, seven-year-old girl named Millie. His raw emotions revealed, Henry finds himself explaining his deep-seated anger and sadness to Millie's mother. As the supposed divine face on the wall appears to shed a tear of blood, Henry is forced to confront his own emotions. Will this unexpected series of events restore his lost faith in life, or will Henry Poole remain cocooned in his fortress of desolation? "Henry Poole is Here" is a poignant exploration of despair, faith, and the unexpected miracles of life.
