Plot

Unveiled under the title "Heaven Only Knows" and later rebranded as "Montana Mike", this unique film fuses the realms of religious fantasy and classic Western, defying conventional genre boundaries. Initially, audiences, especially in smaller towns, misinterpreted it as being purely religious, leading to a swift re-release under its alternate title within the same year. The plot revolves around an unusual celestial conundrum. The balance in Heaven's twin ledgers, The Book of Life and The Book of Destiny, is thrown into disarray due to the absence of an entry for a particular earthling - a ruthless Montana saloon keeper with a chilling reputation as a cold-blooded killer. In a bid to restore equilibrium, a Heavenly Messenger named Michael is dispatched to Earth. It seems that Michael is a preferred name for celestial emissaries in the cinematic universe, or perhaps it's a nod to a collective, long-standing memory. His mission? To reconcile the heavenly records, a task as daunting as it is crucial. Adding to the complexity of his task are two earthly women - the captivating dancehall girl, Marjorie Reynolds, and the preacher's daughter, Jorja Curtwright. Their presence intertwines with Michael's divine mission, adding layers of complication to his celestial auditing. Intriguing and genre-bending, "Heaven Only Knows" or "Montana Mike" offers a unique blend of religious fantasy and classic Western, providing an immersive viewing experience.
