Ground Control (1998)

Haunted by a devastating plane crash that claimed 174 lives, former Chicago air traffic controller Jack Harris exchanges his high-stakes career for the relative calm of designing air traffic control games in sunny Phoenix. Plagued by guilt and nightmares, he finds solace in his new life, until an unexpected reunion with his ex-colleague, T.C. Bryant, pulls him back into the whirlwind. On a New Year's Eve marked by a fierce storm and a crippling staff shortage, the call for help from Bryant, now in Phoenix too, is one he can't ignore. As darkness descends, a power outage strikes, the storm intensifies, and the team's workload skyrockets, Jack finds himself back in the hot seat. A myriad of emotions greets his return, from warmth to wariness, but Jack quickly dispels any doubts about his ability. Yet, as he navigates the chaos, the ghost of his past tragedy begins to surface. Battling a rising tide of self-doubt, Jack is left to wonder: Will his haunted past pave the way to another catastrophe, or can he rise above it to guide the team through the storm?
