Plot

When stalwart city police officer Lisa Nolan takes a temporary posting on Erin Island, an isolated fishing community off the coast of Ireland, she expects a peaceful two-week respite from the bustle of urban life. Unbeknownst to her, however, the island prepares to play host to an invasion of a different kind - an onslaught of ravenous, sea-dwelling aliens with a thirst for blood. As the island's tranquillity is shattered by the eerie wash-up of dead whales and a rash of inexplicable disappearances, Lisa and her perpetually tipsy partner, Ciarán O'Shea, find themselves caught in a maelstrom of chaos. The duo, along with a small band of locals, slowly unearth the horrifying truth behind these events, leading to a bizarre realization. Their only hope for survival against the alien menace lies in the one substance the invaders cannot tolerate - high blood alcohol levels. Armed with this bewildering knowledge, the island's inhabitants kickstart a desperate gambit for survival, transforming their local pub into a fortress of inebriation. As an impending storm grants the alien hatchlings unfettered access to their human prey, the islanders engage in a frenzied lock-in, embarking on an unlikely Bacchanalian battle against their extraterrestrial foes. The question now becomes - can they remain sufficiently intoxicated yet coherent enough to stave off the alien threat? And in their fight for survival, when will they discover that enough alcohol is indeed enough? Drenched in dread and dark humor, 'Grabbers' is a unique blend of sci-fi horror and intoxicating Irish charm, where survival doesn't just mean living - it means staying drunk enough to live another day.
