Plot

Steeped in authenticity, "Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer" is an intense police and courtroom drama based on real-life events. At its core is Dr. Kermit Gosnell (Earl Billings), a man who ran a notorious abortion clinic in the heart of Philadelphia for several decades. The narrative takes flight in 2010 when Philadelphia Police Detectives Wood (Dean Cain) and Stark (Alfonzo Rachel), joined by DEA and FBI agents, descend upon the clinic, searching for evidence tied to illegal prescription drug sales. What they encounter, however, extends far beyond their original mission. The investigators are horrified by the appalling conditions: the clinic is littered with bags of aborted fetuses and fetal body parts chillingly stored in a refrigerator. As they delve deeper into the case, interviewing clinic workers, they uncover a series of disturbing revelations: unqualified assistants administering anesthesia, a patient's death due to an anesthesia overdose, late-term abortions beyond the 24-week limit, and the horrifying reality of babies being born alive, only to have their lives brutally ended by Gosnell himself. The gravity of the situation reaches the DA's office, and Assistant DA (Sara Jane Morris) agrees to prosecute the case. A search warrant in hand, they comb through Gosnell's home, discovering missing files, further evidence, and a large amount of cash - the preferred mode of payment for Gosnell's illicit services. In 2013, Gosnell stands trial, charged with murder. Armed with an experienced defense attorney (Nick Searcy), Gosnell presents himself as a service to minority women, sparking a heated courtroom battle. The scales of justice tip as the DA's prosecutor introduces compelling testimony and disturbing photos provided by one of Gosnell's young assistants. After ten days of deliberation, the jury returns with their verdict, concluding this chilling exploration into one of America's most notorious criminal cases.
