In the world of 15-year-old Alice, a timid adolescent grappling with her relationships with her parents, her diary becomes her most trusted companion. Uprooted from familiarity due to her father's new job as a college English professor, Alice stands on the precipice of the unknown, finding solace in an unlikely friendship with Beth, a shy outsider like her. The summer sun, however, casts long shadows of separation as Beth departs for camp, leaving Alice to navigate the turbulent waters of adolescence alone. Unexpectedly, Alice finds herself drawn into the orbit of the popular clique, where she gets her first taste of the intoxicating world of drugs.
