Plot
Under the relentless onslaught of a tropical storm in Cebu, an island in the Philippines, a chilling mystery unfolds as two sisters vanish without a trace on their way home from work. This disappearance sets the stage for 'Give Up Tomorrow', a riveting hybrid of murder-mystery and a blistering exposé of the deep-seated corruption that riddles the Philippine society.
At the heart of this narrative is Paco Larrañaga, a young student from a politically-influential family, who finds himself accused of the heinous double murder. As the allegations ensnare him, the entire judicial system of the country is subjected to an intense scrutiny, revealing a nightmare of Kafkaesque absurdity. Populated by ostentatiously corrupt officials, police officers succumbing to greed, and a legal and media circus whipped into frenzied hysteria, the system teeters on the brink of chaos.
Yet, 'Give Up Tomorrow' transcends the chaos and corruption, evolving into a poignant tale of family, perseverance, and the quest for justice. It intimately explores the decade-long struggle of two anguished mothers, united in their sorrow yet divided by their quest - one fighting for retribution, the other for her son's salvation.
Imbued with a universal relevance that transcends its specific geographical setting, 'Give Up Tomorrow' uncovers the harrowing complexities of a society where justice is an elusive ideal, often obscured by the shadows of corruption and power.
