In the late spring of 1977, 20-year-old Colleen Stan embarks on a journey from Oregon to California, hitching her way with the aim of visiting friends. With only a smattering of miles left to her destination, she gratefully accepts a ride from a seemingly harmless, young couple - Cameron and Janice Hooker. This decision, however, becomes a dire turning point in her life. Abducted at the edge of a knife, Colleen finds herself entrapped for the next seven harrowing years, confined up to 23 hours daily in a minuscule, box-like prison concealed beneath the Hookers' marital bed. When granted moments outside her suffocating confines, she is reduced to the status of a household slave and child-minder, progressively ensnared in a twisted realm of dark obsessions and perverse fantasies. "Girl in the Box" is a chilling psychological drama, based on real-life events, narrated from the perspective of Janice Hooker, one of the crime's architects. As a naive sixteen-year-old, Janice fell under the charismatic influence of the seemingly affable Cameron. Yet, beneath his charm lurks a sinister secret - a relentless craving for extreme bondage and sadomasochism. As Cameron's dark desires escalate, Janice, unable to bear the torment, strikes a disturbing bargain. In exchange for a cessation of Cameron's sadistic games and the chance to have a child, she agrees to permit him a human slave. It's a pact sealed in the shadows, a chilling dance with the devil.
