Gallery of Horror (1967)

In the chilling anthology "Gallery of Horror," the renowned John Carradine takes the audience on a journey through five haunting tales, each one steeped in terror and concluded with a wickedly predictable twist. The journey commences with "The Witches Clock," a tale rooted in the eerie town of Salem, Massachusetts. The Farrells, a couple enticed by a grand old mansion, are warned by the town's doctor about the house's sinister past and the ancient clock they've unearthed from the depths of the attic. Their tale takes a turn for the mysterious when an elderly man, Tristram Halbin, arrives unannounced. Next, Carradine transports us across the Atlantic to the foggy streets of London in "King of the Vampires." A shadowy figure has been wreaking havoc, leading Scotland Yard to dub him the 'King of the Vampires.' It's up to the astute Brenner to track down this elusive killer and unravel the mystery. The third tale, "Monster Raid," veers into the realm of the undead. A man, transformed into a zombie by an overdose of an experimental drug, seeks retribution from his widow and her new husband, the very individuals responsible for his untimely demise. The penultimate story, "Spark of Life," delves into the realm of the macabre and scientific obsession. Dr. Mendell, a man consumed by the controversial experiments of the disgraced professor Erich von Frankenstein, teams up with two eager students in a daring attempt to reanimate a cadaver. Finally, in "Count Alucard," we find a chilling variation of the Dracula narrative. The infamous Count acquires the deed to Carfax Abbey, leading to a series of harrowing events involving vampiresses and mysterious deaths, all culminating in a surprise ending that veers away from the traditional Stoker tale. In this atmospheric horror gallery, Carradine's narration weaves together these terrifying tales, each story a chilling exploration of the macabre, the supernatural, and the unexpected.
