Plot

In the heart of Texas, a stone's throw from the coast, is a once-thriving bar drowning in decadence, owned by a man named Floyd. Haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his wife, Dorothy, in a presumed swimming accident a year prior, Floyd is lost in his grief, neglecting his business and extending credit to all who ask. His world is made up of a colorful cast of characters, including Jimmy, an erstwhile asylum inmate, and Louise, a devoted spinster who harbors feelings of love for Floyd while working alongside him in the crumbling establishment. Floyd's life is further complicated by the presence of his senile father-in-law, known simply as "The General", who resides with him, demanding constant care. Despite the chaos around him, Floyd's primary worry is the mountain of tax debt looming over him like a thundercloud ready to burst. This financial predicament is eagerly exploited by Charlie, a cunning pseudo-friend, who is eager to buy Floyd's bar at a bargain price. Louise, however, is determined to save the bar and offers her life's savings to enter into a partnership with Floyd. Unbeknownst to most, a potential lifeline appears on the horizon - a bridge soon to be constructed nearby, promising to increase the value of the bar significantly. As Floyd grapples with his grief, debt, and the decision to sell, the future of the bar hangs in the balance, its fate as uncertain as the full moon in the blue water.
