Plot

In the aftermath of the American Civil War, the enigmatic arms manufacturer, Victor Barbicane, unveils his revolutionary invention, a potent power source he dubs Power X. Intending to showcase its potential, Barbicane plans to undertake an audacious expedition - a voyage to the moon. To safeguard his voyage, he entrusts the creation of a protective covering for his rocket to Stuyvesant Nicholl, a Confederate supporter and accomplished steel manufacturer. Joining Barbicane on this celestial journey are his resourceful assistant, Ben Sharpe, the skeptical Nicholl, and Nicholl's spirited daughter, Virginia. However, beneath the surface of their nascent partnership, Nicholl harbors a deep-seated resentment towards Barbicane and vehemently opposes the use of Power X, viewing it as an affront to divine will. As they hurtle towards the moon, Nicholl's secret loathing for Barbicane and his revolutionary invention takes a dangerous turn. Unbeknownst to Barbicane, Nicholl sabotages the mission, undermining their chances of returning home. The journey transmogrifies into a thrilling race against time as they grapple with sabotaged systems and the unyielding laws of space to repair the projectile. An atmospheric blend of technology, rivalry, and survival, "From the Earth to the Moon" is an extraordinary tale of human ambition, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of the unknown.
