Plot

Under the neon lights of a regular evening, Chrishaun Reed "CeCe" McDonald embarks on a simple journey to the store with her friends, only to find herself ensnared in a violent attack. In the throes of a fight for survival, a man's life is inadvertently taken. Following an intense and manipulative questioning, CeCe is wrongfully imprisoned in a men's correctional facility in Minnesota. However, CeCe's plight does not go unnoticed. A wave of international outcry swells, with a diverse array of media and activists rallying behind her cause. Among them shines actress and executive producer Laverne Cox, who leverages her influential position to dissect the intersecting influences of race, class, and gender in CeCe's situation. From the crucible of her struggle, CeCe emerges not as a victim, but a beacon of resilience and leadership. She becomes the face of a burgeoning movement, one that seeks to challenge, scrutinize, and ultimately dismantle the oppressive gears of the prison industrial complex. "Free CeCe" is not merely a cry for justice, but a call to revolution.
