In the heart of Los Angeles, a motley crew of twelve individuals boards the Silver Queen, Coast Air Line's flagship aircraft, embarking on a multi-stop voyage to Panama City. The passengers are as diverse as they are intriguing: Bill, the solitary pilot, and his love-struck co-pilot, Joe Brooks; Larry, the diligent flight steward; Judson Ellis, a spoiled aristocrat and his naïve fiancée Alice Melhorne, eloping in secret due to family disapproval; Martha and Professor Henry Spengler, an elderly couple navigating retirement with the professor's passion for botany; Tommy Mulvaney, a mobster's child and Pete, the mobster's henchman; Peggy Nolan, a woman with a history that has raised many eyebrows; and Crimp, a private detective ferrying the political criminal Vasquez to his impending execution.
However, as the Silver Queen slices through the skies, a savage tropical storm assails the aircraft, pulling it mercilessly off course. Mechanical failures soon follow, forcing the plane to crash-land into the dense, headhunter-riddled jungles of Amazon. The survivors, stranded in an unknown territory, must band together to withstand the perils lurking within the jungle's verdant folds.
As time ticks by, the veneer of civilization begins to peel away, replaced by the primal instinct of survival. The passengers attempt to repair the ailing aircraft, construct a crude runway, and prepare to escape the impending native onslaught. However, the damaged plane and dwindling fuel reserves mean that only five individuals can make it to safety.
Facing life-altering decisions, the group's dynamics shift dramatically. Who will step up to make the pivotal choices? Will the pilots, Bill and Joe, manage to fly out? Can Peggy, Alice and Judson weather the storm of their personal struggles? Will Crimp deliver Vasquez to his fate? Will the Spenglers rediscover their bond amidst the turmoil? Is Larry among the lucky five? As the paradigm of survival of the fittest unfolds, the question lingers: who decides who lives and who perishes?
