Cast Away (2000)

Tom Hanks takes on one of the signature roles of his career in this enthralling vision of a man completely isolated from humanity. He's a FedEx employee on a plane heading across the Pacific when disaster strikes. His plane crashes with him as the sole survivor. After that, he washes up on a tiny atoll with only his wits and a few items to help him for the next few years. What follows is as trip into the psyche of a man as he grapples with tasks ranging from how to get food to how to avoid feeling totally lonely.
