Plot

In the heartwarming comedy of Fitzwilly (1967), Claude Fitzwilliam, a devoted butler affectionately known as Fitzwilly, is thrust into a world of crime and deception as he battles to keep the philanthropic lifestyle of his beloved employer, Miss Vicki, afloat. After the death of her father, the once-wealthy Miss Vicki exhausts the family fortune on charitable pursuits, blissfully unaware of her dwindling wealth. Guided by loyalty and a sense of duty, Fitzwilly ingeniously rallies the household staff into an unlikely band of criminals. They embark on a series of high-stake thefts from unsuspecting businesses, cleverly misdirecting shipments and charging goods to other wealthy individuals, all in the name of maintaining Miss Vicki's aristocratic lifestyle and benevolent endeavors. Amidst this chaos, Miss Vicki, under Fitzwilly's persuasion, dives into a unique project - a "Dictionary for Dopes". A comprehensive guide offering phonetic spellings of words, this dictionary requires the help of a secretary, and thus, Juliet enters the scene. Juliet, a smart and intuitive woman, quickly becomes suspicious of the household's hidden operations. As she unravels the truth, she finds herself falling for the charming butler, Fitzwilly. Torn between love and propriety, Juliet agrees to one final, grand heist, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion. This audacious plan, if successful, promises to secure Miss Vicki's comfortable life and philanthropic activities for the rest of her days, all while paving the way for Juliet and Fitzwilly's impending nuptials. Fitzwilly (1967) is a delightful blend of comedy, romance, and intrigue, where loyalty inspires the most unlikely of actions, and love blossoms amidst an elaborate web of theft and deception.
