First Response (2015)

In the pulsating heart of Philadelphia, the lives of two paramedics, Camilla and Gerry, are irrevocably intertwined with the perils of their profession. The pair, bound not just by their jobs but also by their shared history outside of work, find their routine evening shift spiraling into a horrifying nightmare. A routine call to a nightclub, where a gunfight has erupted, thrusts them into an unexpected hostage situation as they are hijacked by two masked criminals, the very architects of the nightclub chaos. The gunmen, who are revealed to be brothers, coerce Camilla and Gerry into a high-stakes gamble for survival. One brother, severely wounded, teeters on the brink of death, his life hanging by a thread, while the other brandishes a gun, his desperation fueled by the stolen loot they hope to escape with. Camilla, an experienced field medic with a haunting past in the Iraq War, finds herself performing precarious medical procedures in the back of their commandeered ambulance, while Gerry, a new father, is forced to navigate the labyrinthine streets of Philadelphia, evading the relentless pursuit of the police. As the tension within the ambulance escalifies, Camilla and Gerry grapple with their principles and their survival instincts, questioning how far they will go to ensure their safety. They are haunted by the possibility of betraying their professional code by killing their captors if given a chance, all while navigating the volatile unpredictability of the gun-wielding brother, who is high on coke and harbors the knowledge that he has already murdered an undercover police officer. In the midst of this perilous journey, unbeknownst to Camilla and Gerry, they are not entirely alone. Their radio becomes a beacon of hope, connecting them with Bryan Tadman, the dedicated dispatcher on duty and a personal friend of Gerry. As Camilla and Gerry fight for their lives, they must decide whether to rely on their medical skills, trust in their unseen ally, or take the ultimate risk to fight back against their captors. Will they save the life they are forced to care for, or will they sacrifice it all in a desperate bid for freedom?
