Plot

In the heart of scenic Sardinia, Chris (Lars Eidinger) and Gitti (Birgit Minichmayr) find themselves in a relationship teetering on the precipice of conflict and harmony. Gitti, a publicist for a languishing rock band, stands as the reluctant breadwinner, while Chris, a struggling architect, grapples with his yet-to-be-realized dreams. The dynamics of their partnership takes an unexpected turn in the idyllic confines of Chris' family's summer home. Their seemingly tranquil retreat is disrupted by the arrival of another couple, the accomplished architect Hans (Hans-Jochen Wagner) and his partner, the esteemed artist Sana (Nicole Marischka). Hans, effortlessly exuding alpha-male dominance, casts a long shadow over Chris, whose attempts to mirror him only stoke the simmering tension with Gitti. Meanwhile, Gitti finds herself perplexed and intrigued by the outwardly content couple, whose happiness contrasts sharply with their own. The story of Everyone Else (2009) is a nuanced exploration of relationships, aspirations, and the facades we construct, all set against the backdrop of a sun-soaked summer in Sardinia.
