Plot

In the rugged landscapes of Bolivia, specifically the Cochabamba region, Spanish director Sebastián and his frugal producer Costa embark on an ambitious cinematic journey. They are there to recreate the monumental first explorations of Christopher Columbus and portray the turbulent interactions between the Spaniards and the indigenous tribes. The thrifty Costa sees the location as a goldmine, where they can hire local actors and extras at a bargain, making the most of their constricted budget. The filming progresses relatively unimpeded until a sudden storm of societal unrest builds over the privatization of the water supply. Amidst this turmoil, they discover that one of their key local actors is not just playing a role in their film, but is also a pivotal figure in the real-life protest movement. The lines between their historical drama and contemporary reality blur, throwing their production into an unforeseen chaos. This captivating tale encapsulates the struggles of art imitating life, and life imitating art, under the harsh Bolivian sun.
