As the wheels of Flight no. KI501 lift off from Incheon Airport, the airplane isn't just bound for the sunny shores of Hawaii, but also a journey into terror. Aboard are an array of passengers each carrying their own burdens, including Jae-hyuk (LEE Byung-hun), a man with a crippling fear of flying who's determined to brave the skies for his ailing daughter. His alarm heightens when he recognizes a sinister figure from the airport now sharing the same flight, his menacing words echoing in Jae-hyuk's mind. On the ground, seasoned police detective In-ho (SONG Kang-ho) stumbles upon a chilling video message foreshadowing a terrorist attack on this very plane. The stakes rise immeasurably when he discovers his wife is among the unsuspecting passengers on board. Racing against time, In-ho plunges into a desperate investigation to unmask the potential threat. The flight transforms into a claustrophobic nightmare when a passenger's sudden, inexplicable death sends ripples of fear and chaos through the cabin. Back on land, news of the escalating crisis reaches Transport Minister Sook-hee (JEON Do-yeon), who swiftly assembles a counterterrorism task force. She must navigate the treacherous waters of crisis management, teetering on the brink of a decision that could save or doom the passengers of Flight no. KI501. As the severity of the situation dawns upon them, the copilot is compelled to make a chilling 'emergency declaration'.
