Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966)

When Yata, a humble fisherman, goes missing at sea, his younger brother Ryota embarks on a desperate search, despite the authorities' indifference. Ryota's quest leads him to a dance contest with an unusual prize - a boat. However, he arrives too late, meeting instead, Nita and Ichino, two eliminated contestants. Together, they explore the marina's boats, stumbling upon a seemingly abandoned one. Their intrusion is met by Yoshimura, a rifle-wielding man they mistake for the boat's owner, but who is, in fact, a fugitive bank robber using the boat as a hideout. Their precarious alliance is further tested when Ryota, driven by his brotherly love, impulsively sets sail, with them aboard, into the heart of the sea. Their journey soon turns perilous when a storm brings them face-to-face with a gigantic claw emerging from the depths. They awaken, finding themselves stranded on Lechti Island, a clandestine base for the international terrorist group known as Red Bamboo. This is no ordinary island; it harbours a heavy water factory, a band of enslaved natives from Infant Island, and a monstrous, giant lobster named Ebirah, who feasts on those who dare to escape. Amid the chaos, a slave girl, Daiyo, escapes and crosses paths with the boys. They discover a cave, but it is not empty - within it slumbers Godzilla. Their plans to rescue the enslaved natives are thwarted, leading to Ichino's capture and Ryota's accidental drift towards Infant Island on an observation balloon, where a reunion awaits. Meanwhile, Nita devises a daring plan - to awaken Godzilla with lightning, hoping the awakened beast would not only distract Red Bamboo's soldiers but also face off against the terrifying Ebirah. This unexpected alliance and a common enemy sets the stage for a climactic showdown, where the fate of the island hangs in the balance.
