In the heart of a vibrant city, a shy and obsessive comic book devotee, Devon Gummarsnall, stumbles upon a life-altering opportunity. After witnessing the harrowing death of his partner, he injects himself with an experimental serum from a secretive lab that claims to harness the raw power of spiders. As he dreams of becoming his beloved comic book hero, he begins to manifest uncanny abilities. His newfound strength brings local criminals and bullies to their knees, and his ability to shoot webs from his abdomen transforms him into the talk of the town, the superhero he always yearned to be, and the fascination of his attractive next-door neighbor. However, these thrilling developments soon take a darker turn. As Devon's abilities evolve, he finds himself unable to control his strength, his judgment clouded, his body morphing into a grotesque parody of his spider idol.
