Plot

In the heart of Tasmania's foreboding forests lie two chilling legends: the fabled extinct Tasmanian tiger and the twisted tale of "The Pieman", Alexander Pearce, a cannibal convict who miraculously escaped the most dreaded penal colony of the British Empire in 1824. Dying Breed weaves together these evocative spectres of Tasmanian history, hinting at the horrifying possibility that both might have living descendants lurking unseen in the wilderness. Zoologist Nina, haunted by the tragic death of her sister eight years prior, is driven by a relentless pursuit of truth. Firm in her belief that the Tasmanian tiger still prowls the shadowy bush, she clings to a single piece of evidence - a photograph of a paw print taken by her sister just before her untimely demise. Financial constraints threaten to stifle her quest until her partner, Matt, convinces his old friend Jack to finance their expedition, but not without his own conditions. Joined by Jack's girlfriend Rebecca, who seeks an escape from her mundane real estate job, the foursome embarks on an expedition deep into Tasmania's most remote corners. As they delve deeper into the wilderness, they unwittingly trespass into the territory of the "Pieman's" descendants, who inhabit the secluded township of "Sarah". This clandestine community fervently clings to its gruesome cannibalistic heritage, honoring the very convict who gave birth to it. As their journey evolves from a quest to a desperate struggle for survival, the group quickly learns that in this treacherous terrain, the hunters swiftly become the hunted. In the eerie silence of the Tasmanian bush, they're plunged into a horrifying realization - some secrets are better left buried, and some creatures, whether man or beast, need to remain hidden to continue their ominous existence. Unravel the chilling mystery of Dying Breed, where the lines between history and horror blur, and survival is as elusive as the shadowy Tasmanian tiger itself.
