Plot

"Don't Look Down" (2016) is a riveting exploration of Richard Branson's audacious journey, set against the backdrop of 1984's vibrant British music scene. A daring maverick and music mogul, Branson finds himself on the precipice of an immense decision – to challenge British Airways by establishing his own airline. Equipped with only a single aircraft, a shoestring marketing budget, and his innate knack for self-promotion, he soon understands that the survival of his fledgling enterprise hinges on a grandiose publicity spectacle. In a move that blends ambition, audacity, and a dash of madness, Branson teams up with Per Lindstrand, a seasoned hot air balloonist. Their unprecedented goal? To traverse the Atlantic Ocean in a hot air balloon – a feat never before accomplished. Thus ensues a series of death-defying record attempts that put not only Branson's life but also his burgeoning business empire in the balance. "Don't Look Down" offers a never-before-seen glimpse into this incredible adventure, chronicling a narrative of courage, determination, despair, and ultimate triumph. The film draws from intimate interviews with Branson and his team, interwoven with previously unseen archival footage, including real-time shots from within the balloon. Combined with dramatic re-enactments, this compelling narrative promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, all while shedding light on Richard Branson's audacious attempts to shatter world records with his hot air balloon exploits.
