Desolation (2018)

Katie, a humble New York restaurant cashier, carries the heavy burden of a traumatic past marked by rape and an abortion. She finds solace in therapy and medication, her only respite in the companionship of her co-worker and confidante, Debbie. Life takes an unexpected turn when the charismatic movie star, Jay, saunters into the restaurant. Sparks fly, leading to a passionate romance and an invitation for Katie to relocate to his Los Angeles abode. Upon her arrival in the city of angels, Katie encounters Father Bill, a mysterious figure. She savors a few blissful days with Jay before his professional commitments pull him away, leaving Katie alone in the unfamiliar surroundings. It's not long before an eerie sequence of events unfolds in the apartment, unsettling Katie and causing her to doubt her own sanity. As she navigates her new life and grapples with her past, Katie's journey becomes a haunting exploration of love, trust, and the human psyche.
