Plot

Nestled within the ordinary borders of Smith County, the Stanley Crematory is more than just a sanctuary for the dead. Its owner, Stan, is a solitary 59-year-old with a chilling secret - he's a twisted psychopath who eliminates those he sees as societal bullies, reducing them to ashes within his basement crematory. This grim operation goes unnoticed in the everyday humdrum of middle-class suburbia, offering him the perfect cover to pursue his deadly mission. Parallel to Stan's unsettling narrative runs the story of Jarod Leary, a fatherless 17-year-old outcast grappling with the harsh realities of life at Banyon High School. Living in a trailer with his mother Martha, Jarod is the prime target for David Valentine and his gang, who revel in tormenting him daily. As Jarod yearns for an escape, destiny leads him to Stan's doorstep, seeking employment. An unusual bond forms between the deranged cremator and the bullied teenager, blossoming into an unexpected partnership. As Jarod becomes entangled in Stan's dark world, he decides to take a leaf out of his mentor's book to deal with Rick Waters, an arrogant lawyer dating his mother. But Jarod’s inexperienced hands falter, threatening to expose their macabre secret. Amidst the growing chaos, Detective Matt Fairchild begins to piece together a series of local disappearances, his investigation gradually veering towards the Stanley Crematory. As the law closes in, Stan is faced with a dire choice – is his protegé worth killing for, or will he let his sinister operation go up in smoke? In the deceptive calm of Smith County, "Death and Cremation" weaves a bone-chilling tale of murder, mentorship and morality, where the lines between right and wrong blur into a terrifying grey.
