Set against the iron-gray backdrop of the USSR in 1962, "Dear Comrades!" spins a tale of ideological disillusionment and relentless pursuit of truth. In the heart of Novocherkassk, we meet Lyudmila, a staunch Party executive and veteran of WWII, who has staked her life on the red tinted ideals of communism. She's a fortress against anti-Soviet sentiment, standing tall in her unyielding faith in a future communist society. However, the world she knows shatters when the government, in a bid to suppress dissent, raises food prices. The industrial pulse of Novocherkassk - its electromotive factory - grinds to a halt as its workers ignite the flame of rebellion and go on strike. Lyudmila, a firsthand witness to this brewing storm, watches in paralyzing disbelief as her comrades are mowed down by their own government. The massacre, a desperate attempt to quell the uprising and cover up mass labor strikes, leaves a trail of blood and a town gasping for truth. In the wake of this bloodbath, Lyudmila is confronted with an agonizing reality - her daughter has vanished. Ignoring the city's lockdown, the mass arrests, and the government's desperate attempts to bury the truth of the massacre, Lyudmila embarks on a harrowing search for her lost child. The journey is fraught with uncertainty, with the ending as elusive as the truth she seeks. But one thing is crystal clear - Lyudmila's life, like the town of Novocherkassk itself, will never be the same.
