Dead Mary (2007)

In the aftermath of a fresh breakup, Kim and her ex-boyfriend Matt defy the strain of their fractured relationship to embark on a weekend getaway to a secluded cabin nestled by the serene embrace of a tranquil lake. Accompanied by their closest companions - the charismatic Eve, the enigmatic Dash and his wife Amber, the jovial Baker and his new flame Lily - their retreat is poised to be a nostalgic reunion, a throwback to their carefree college days. However, the heavy air of unresolved tension between Kim and Matt hangs like a storm cloud, threatening to shatter the veneer of camaraderie. In an attempt to lighten the mood, they indulge in a seemingly harmless childhood game, "Dead Mary". As Matt, Eve and Dash chant the witch's name thrice before a mirror, the flickering candlelight casting eerie shadows, they inadvertently unlock a door to a realm of darkness, summoning an evil they cannot comprehend. The once peaceful night is ruptured by strange noises and inexplicable occurrences. Matt, the first casualty, is killed only to return to life, a chilling testament to the power they've unleashed. One by one, the friends are possessed by the vindictive spirit of Dead Mary, transforming this reunion into a desperate struggle for survival. As the insidious entity forces them against each other, they're confronted with the horrifying quandary of self-preservation. Faced with the unthinkable choice of hacking their beloved friends to pieces or becoming the next victim, alliances crumble and trust dissipifies. Who will survive this nightmare, and at what cost?
