Plot

In the fast-paced world of public relations, Joe Clay is a master at his game. His job calls for socializing, networking, and, inevitably, drinking. Joe's penchant for alcohol isn't just a job requirement but a personal indulgence, a vice he savors. At a client's soiree, he crosses paths with Kirsten Arnesen, his client's secretary. Kirsten initially finds Joe less than charming, yet against her better judgment, she succumbs to a date. Kirsten, unacquainted with alcohol, neither enjoys its taste nor seeks its intoxicating allure. But Joe, with his persuasive charm, introduces her to the world of spirits, masked with the sweet taste of a chocolatey Brandy Alexander, appealing to her weakness for chocolate. Their shared drinks lead to shared lives as they fall in love, marry, and start a family. However, life's pressures mount, and Joe's drinking escalates, dragging Kirsten down with him into a swirling vortex of alcohol dependency. The alcohol that once sweetened their lives turns bitter, eroding their personal existence and scarring Joe's soaring career. Kirsten's father, Ellis Arnesen, a diligent nurseryman, strives to save his daughter from the ruinous whirlpool of addiction, but his resentment towards Joe, the man who introduced her to alcohol, hampers his efforts. When Joe finally awakens to the devastating reality of their alcohol-soaked lives, he realizes that reclaiming their existence means renouncing alcohol forever. However, this epiphany is just the beginning. The real battle lies in resisting the siren call of liquor, a fight that might prove to be their greatest challenge yet. Will they both emerge victorious, or will only one manage to break free from the shackles of addiction? In this poignant portrayal of love, addiction, and redemption, 'Days of Wine and Roses' paints a stirring portrait of the human struggle against self-destruction.
