Dark Remains (2005)

In the chilling aftermath of their daughter Emma's gruesome demise, discovered with slit throat and wrists within their secure apartment, accomplished technical writer Allen Pyke and his wife, the talented photographer Julie, are ensnared by immense grief. Desperation propels them to seek refuge in a secluded mountain cabin in Kingspike, leaving behind their urban lives. Julie, drowning in sorrow, holds Allen accountable for their irreplaceable loss. The cabin, however, is no sanctuary. Julie captures the spectral image of Emma within a photograph taken at a deserted nearby prison, igniting an unnerving obsession with capturing on film the elusive spirits that haunt their new home. Local man Jim Payne warns Allen about the cabin's ominous past, triggering alarm bells. Upon discovering that the previous inhabitants succumbed to suicide, Allen delves deeper into the cabin's history. He uncovers a sinister pattern: a series of unexplained deaths occurring around May 22nd. Fearful, Allen plans to escape to a hotel with Julie, but she resists, unwilling to abandon the ethereal connection with their lost daughter, Emma. In the face of mounting terror and the haunting shadows of the past, Allen and Julie's love and sanity are put to the ultimate test.
