In the covert world of British espionage, Jonas Wilde operates as a secret weapon, a state-sanctioned assassin, hidden within the tranquil scenery of the Isle of Jersey. Alongside Peter Ravenspur and Brian Stern, he maintains a façade of normalcy, running a boating company as their undercover front. Tony Canning, a shadowy figure from Whitehall, serves as their only contact to the outside world. Despite his dangerous profession, Wilde maintains a passionate relationship with Jocelyn, a London-based market researcher, often relying on his charm and allure to navigate the treacherous waters of his work. But Wilde, weary of his lethal occupation, plans to retire after one final assignment. Joined by Canning's wife, Barbara, Wilde embarks on a perilous journey to their base in the Channel Islands. Here, he learns of another casualty, Peter Ravenspur, deepening the mystery. As the danger intensifies, Wilde must navigate a lethal labyrinth of treachery and deceit, with his survival hanging by a thread.
