In the tranquil suburban enclave of Elk Park, nestled near Denver, Goldy Berry is striving to reclaim her life in the aftermath of a bitter divorce. Her ex-husband, the egoistic Dr. Richard Korman, remains an irksome presence within her social sphere, primarily due to their shared connections to their preteen daughter Olive's school. Goldy's path to recovery and independence entwines with her launching a fledgling catering business. Her first significant assignment is the booster club luncheon at Olive's school, which she secures through the endorsements of the school psychiatrist Dr. Laura Smiley and Olive's history teacher, Brad Bowman - who harbours romantic feelings for her. The luncheon proves to be a roaring success, and Goldy is soon tasked with another high-profile catering assignment. Simultaneously, Richard seeks to capitalize on the gathering of the affluent at the luncheon, scouting for potential investors for a wellness center he is championing. This venture, conspicuously absent during their marriage, marks his own attempts at moving forward.
