In the heart of a tranquil provincial town, we find Thomas and his mother, Anne, who have once again escaped their past – a history tainted with the violent echoes of an abusive father and husband. This time, their journey brings them to a world far removed from their usual hideaways, a place where they tread the path of normality with caution and trepidation. Their journey pauses at a local gas station where Thomas' world is illuminated by the enchanting presence of Helene. A spark is ignited and love swiftly takes root. Meanwhile, Anne finds shelter for them in rooms rented from Lars, the local junk dealer, who is as intriguing as the town itself.
