Plot

In an audacious attempt to turn the tides of war, Sgt. Sullivan forms an eclectic team of Italian-American soldiers, camouflaging them as Italian troops to infiltrate a North African camp held by the enemy. In the silent shroud of night, they eliminate the unsuspecting Italians, only to discover a woman of the night mysteriously residing within the camp grounds. The mission becomes a dangerous game of deception as Sullivan's commandos are tasked to maintain control of the camp and its arsenal until an American battalion arrives. The narrative weaves a tapestry of tension as they constantly masquerade as enemy soldiers, even playing host to the true adversaries. Thrust into this whirlwind is Lt. Valli, a fresh, rule-abiding officer, whose constant ideological clashes with Sgt. Sullivan add another layer of conflict to the narrative. Sullivan argues that Valli's textbook approach is woefully inadequate for the brutal realities of war. Amongst the men is an entomologist, a touch of unexpected charm in this harsh setting, who tragically meets an untimely end. Following this, the plot spirals into a cascade of calamities, leaving us on the edge of our seats. The 1968 movie "Commandos" is a riveting tale of courage, deception, and the unpredictability of warfare.
