Plot

In the sun-drenched beauty of Italy, Robert Talbot, a wealthy American executive, breaks from his routine, embarking on his annual vacation months ahead of his accustomed September schedule. This unexpected decision disrupts the life of his Italian girlfriend, Lisa Helena Fellini, who, tired of waiting for a marriage proposal, has just accepted a ring from her British beau, Spencer. Robert's invitation to his grand Italian villa derails Lisa's matrimonial plans, as she calls off her engagement to join him. Upon their arrival, they find that the villa has been transformed into an upscale hotel by the cunning butler, Maurice Clavell. For six long years, Maurice has been capitalizing on Robert's absence, renting out his villa to unsuspecting tourists. The current occupants, six feisty American teenage girls, led by the indomitable Margaret Allison, have the villa booked, much to Robert's chagrin. Determined to reclaim his sanctuary, Robert dismisses Maurice and demands the immediate eviction of the guests. However, a mishap involving a champagne cork and Margaret leaves the girls stranded in the villa for a while longer. The situation gets further complicated with the arrival of four flirtatious American boys, who are immediately attracted to the girls. To the boys' surprise, Robert steps in as an unlikely chaperone, shielding the girls from their advances. Robert's advice to one of the boys, Sandy Stevens, sparks a transformation in Lisa's demeanor. He advises Sandy that men rarely take "easy women" seriously and that they seldom marry them. This revelation prompts Lisa to reevaluate her relationship with Robert, leading her on a path of self-discovery and independence. Amidst the chaos, the villa becomes a stage for an unexpected comedy of errors, a romantic tug-of-war, and a lesson in life and love.
