As the festive season of Christmas sweeps across New York City, everyone seems to be brimming with joy and holiday spirit, all but one - Ava. Her dreams of a Hawaiian getaway are dashed when her workaholic boyfriend cancels their plans, highlighting the widening chasm between them. Meanwhile, on the sun-drenched coast of California, Mason, a grieving widower, and his young daughter, Mia, are gearing up for a solitary Christmas. In a surprising twist of fate, their lives intersect online. Mia, with her eyes set on a Christmas puppy, concocts a plan to rent out their guesthouse for the holiday season to boost their finances. As destiny would have it, Ava stumbles upon their listing on a Holiday Home Rental website. Mia, cleverly masking her age, persuades Ava that a Californian Christmas is the antidote to her holiday melancholy. In a spur-of-the-moment decision, Ava finds herself renting Mason's quaint guesthouse in the picturesque Tinsel, California. Upon arrival, she soon uncovers the truth behind her new landlords. Although she offers to leave, Mason and Mia convince her to stay and partake in their holiday festivities. What begins as a whimsical journey for Ava gradually transforms into a crucial pathway towards finding her personal joy and happiness. This festive season, they learn that sometimes, the best Christmases are the unexpected ones.
