Chevalier (2023) tells the lavish historical tale of Joseph Bologne, a brilliant Black composer and violin virtuoso (Kelvin Harrison Jr. in a tour de force performance), who rises from the shadows of obscurity to the dazzling lights of French aristocracy. Born the illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, his talent and ambition are as vast as the chasm between his origins and his aspirations.
