Chashme Bahaddar (2006)

In the bustling heart of Mumbai, unscrupulous builder Parveen Dholakia employs brute tactics to evict the occupants of Bhootachi Chawl, his eyes set on lucrative redevelopment. However, his machinations are put on pause when he learns about an FIR lodged against him by a local resident, Rajaram Dhappne, at the L.T. Marg Police Station. This revelation stirs unease amongst the Chawl dwellers, especially within Rajaram's family—his wife, Neelima, and son, Bandopanth—who prefer peace over conflict with local goons. Despite their pleas, Rajaram denies filing such a complaint. Haunted by fear but determined, Rajaram decides to maintain a low profile, juggling not just the pressure from his landlord over unpaid rent, but also an unexpected encounter with the clay effigy of his deceased step-grandfather, Abaji. The apparition of Abaji presents him with a pair of eyeglasses and a book, revealing a mystical secret: when Rajaram reads the book while wearing the glasses, he inhabits the persona of the character he reads about. As the plot thickens, Rajaram is thrust into a world where reality and fiction blur, forcing him to navigate through the challenges that lie ahead.
