Plot

In the enthralling Western classic, Cassidy of Bar 20 (1938), Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd) reigns as the stalwart boss of the vast Bar 20 ranch in Texas. Upon receiving a dire plea from his lifelong love, Nora Blake (Nora Lane), he sets off for the wild expanses of the New Mexico cattle country near Alamogordo, flanked by his loyal comrades "Lucky" Jenkins (Russell Hayden) and "Pappy" (Frank Darien). Their quest is hindered by the ruthless Clay Allison (Robert Fiske), a cattle rustler who's grown drunk on his dominion over the region. Intent on expanding his empire by pilfering Nora's cattle and driving her off her land, Allison views Cassidy as a formidable adversary to his malevolent plans. Employing deception, he swiftly has Cassidy and his crew arrested on fabricated charges. Refusing to be shackled by Allison's sinister machinations, Cassidy and his team orchestrate a daring escape, blazing their way out of captivity. They reach Nora's besieged ranch only to discover her foreman, Tom Dillon (Jack Elliott), has met a grim end at the hands of Allison's minions. With news of an imminent onslaught by a gang of outlaws from the Texas border, Cassidy springs into action. In a bold move, Cassidy sends Lucky to rally the Bar 20 hands while he brazenly accuses Allison. Infuriated, Allison unleashes his gang, setting the stage for a dramatic showdown. As the dust settles over the wild frontier, it's clear that Cassidy of Bar 20 is a thrilling ride that's as unpredictable as the wild west itself.
