Cal (2013)

After receiving the grim news of his mother's illness, Cal finds himself drawn back to his homeland, Britain, only to be met with the harsh reality of a city, like many others around the globe, grappling with the devastating effects of a global economic crisis. A city where riots and looting have become an almost nightly spectacle, a chilling testament to the rampant youth unemployment. In the midst of this urban decay, his Auntie Jane resides in their dilapidated council house, numbing her boredom with welfare-funded alcohol and unsettling attempts at self-gratification by trying to lure him into her warped games of seduction. Cal must navigate through this unfamiliar terrain, a stark contrast to the home he once knew. His path soon crosses with a young student in need of assistance, a seemingly innocent encounter that propels him into the dangerous world of a ruthless drug-dealing pimp. Now, ensnared in a perilous race against time, Cal must reconcile with his ailing mother and escape the clutches of this chaotic city, all while the clock mercilessly ticks away.
