Plot

Immersed in the tranquil setting of a small yet urbane French town, Caché unfolds the unnerving narrative of Georges, a prominent TV literary critic. He shares a tasteful modern townhouse with his wife, Ann, a respected publisher, and their young son Pierrot. Their seemingly serene existence shatters when mysterious videotapes, bearing intimate footage of their family life, start showing up at their doorstep. Accompanying these tapes are cryptic, child-like drawings, further intensifying the enigma. Despite their growing terror, the family finds little solace in law enforcement. The police, seeing no explicit threat, dismiss their pleas for help. With each new tape, the content grows increasingly personal, insinuating a sender who bears an unsettling familiarity with Georges' life. As a shroud of menace descends upon the family, their peaceful life succumbs to a chilling paranoia. With no choice left, Georges steps into the shadows to unravel the identity of the person tormenting his family. In this harrowing journey, he teeters between victim and detective, desperately seeking answers in a world where the ordinary morphs into the sinister. Caché, a suspenseful masterpiece by Michael Haneke, is a compelling exploration of the haunting power of the past and the eerie silence of the unknown.
