Plot

In the gray, gritty landscape of Buffalo, New York, we meet Billy Brown - a man in his thirties who's just been released from five years in prison. Billy's life, fraught with dissatisfaction and disappointment, revolves around two things: his exceptional skill at bowling, and his inherited obsession with the local football team, the Bills. His passion for the team, a legacy from his fanatical mother Jan, is indirectly linked to his stint in prison. On his first day of freedom, Billy has two missions: to visit his parents and to exact revenge on the person he holds responsible for his incarceration. Throughout his life, Billy has maintained an intricate web of lies to his parents, including his out-of-town job with the federal government and a fictional wife named Wendy. Determined to keep up the charade during his visit, he creates an excuse for Wendy's absence. But when circumstances demand Wendy's presence, Billy kidnaps Layla, a young woman he chances upon, and coerces her to play the part of his soon-to-be bride. As the day unfolds, Billy's interactions with Layla and an unexpected encounter with the root cause of his misery set the stage for a potential turning point in his life. These events leave the audience in suspense, questioning whether Billy's destiny lies in freedom or a lifelong sentence behind bars. The raw underbelly of Buffalo '66 explores the interplay of obsession, deception, and the quest for redemption, delivering a riveting narrative that is as unpredictable as Billy's own fate.
