Buckley's Chance (2021)

In the wake of his father's death, young Ridley and his mother, Gloria, embark on a new life in the rugged terrains of Western Australia, moving in with his detached grandfather, Spencer. The unfamiliar surroundings stir up a storm of conflict between the grandfather and grandson, as Spencer's attempts to bridge the emotional chasm usually end up in discord. Unexpectedly, Ridley finds himself lost in the vast, merciless expanse of the Australian outback. The vast desert becomes his labyrinth as he sets out on a quest to find his way back home. As Ridley battles the harsh elements of the outback, a world away from his New York City comforts, his mother Gloria and grandfather Spencer comb the barren landscapes in a desperate search. In his solitary journey, Ridley stumbles upon a dingo, trapped and suffering. He bravely frees the wild animal, named Buckley, from a painful leg trap, sparking an unlikely friendship. Bonded by their shared struggle, the boy and the dingo become allies, each relying on the other for survival in the unforgiving wilderness. Meanwhile, Spencer grapples with the loss of his only child, assuring Gloria that Ridley will be alright, all the while wrestling with his own grief.
