Born to Win (2016)

In the monotonous landscape of Móstoles, Madrid, resides Encarna - a woman in her thirties who finds herself shackled by a life devoid of novelty. Anchored to her perennial boyfriend and a soul-draining job, she yearns for change, haunted by the infamous Spanish sketch, "Empanadillas de Móstoles" that caricatured her town back in 1985's New Year's Eve. Desperate to break free from her pedestrian existence, Encarna stumbles upon María Dolores, a forgotten classmate, now a dazzling figure in the world of pyramid selling. Under the charismatic allure of the company's boss claiming to be renowned actress Victoria Abril, Encarna plunges headfirst into this new world, convinced that it's her ticket out of obscurity. As she navigates through the glittering labyrinth of wealth and luxury, she begins to taste the life she always yearned for, now within her grasp. However, as she climbs the pyramid, the seductive façade begins to crumble. A series of events force her to question the legality and morality of her new life. Will this life of opulence prove to be her salvation or will it pull Encarna further into the quicksand of deceit and corruption? The film, 'Born to Win', explores this tantalizing journey of a woman's desperate quest for change, and the price she might have to pay for it.
