In the shadowy depths of the 10th century, a Viking ship lands on the North American shoreline, sowing the seeds of a chilling legend that will echo through the ages. Fast-forward to present day, where a group of college friends, led by the rock-loving Josh, venture into the dense woods to a cabin near a creek, a place steeped in the nostalgia of his family's past camping trips. Among the friends are Mike, his mischievous girlfriend Shelly, vibrant Kathy, her frizzy-haired companion Kristi, and Larry, the group's resident bookworm. As daylight surrenders to the unsettling whispers of night, the friends immerse themselves in the rustic charm of their surroundings. Meanwhile, deep within the woods, an unseen assailant is driven by a frenzied rage, striking down a senior couple with terrifying force. In the nearby town, Officer Hill, the local state trooper and sheriff in all but name, shares his uneasy feelings about the college kids and the cabin with his chess partner, Pappy Nyquis. Upon mention of Homer and Edna, the elderly couple who rented the cabin, Hill's unease deepens, a chilling premonition that something is horribly amiss. As the legend of the berserker looms ominously over the cabin, the friends find themselves facing a primal terror, a bloodthirsty embodiment of an ancient curse, with no help in sight. Their idyllic retreat morphs into a haunting battleground, where survival is as uncertain as the flickering shadows of the haunted woods.
