Plot
In the heart of England resides Ms. Mossie's pension, a sanctuary for bachelors where female visitors are a forbidden fruit. Despite this rigid rule, the young dwellers of this fortress, drawn by the allure of clandestine romance, dare to break it. One such rebel, O'Brien, pays dearly for his transgression, caught red-handed in the act of sneaking in a lady, leading to his immediate eviction.
Meanwhile, Bernard Mulligan, played by Josef Abrhám, navigates this treacherous terrain with deft cunning, secretly ushering his love, Andela (Iva Janzurová), into his boudoir. Their stolen night is, however, threatened by the impending dawn and the imminent return of Mulligan's unsuspecting roommate, Halibut. With the ticking clock against him, Mulligan embarks on a desperate mission to awaken Andela and orchestrate her discreet exit.
However, the drowsy Andela, sensing Mulligan's frantic urgency, realizes the evaporation of his previous affection. Devastated and scorned, she retaliates by torturing him in a game of psychological chess. 'Bedtime Story' (1968) is thus a tale of forbidden love and the humorous, yet poignant consequences that ensue when the boundaries of desire and propriety collide.
