Plot

In the heart of the 1980s, love entwines the lives of Najma and Salim, a pair united in a bond as deep as it is platonic. Salim, a man of profound thoughts, yearns for women like Najma to be self-sufficient and not reliant on men, a stance that further strengthens their unique relationship. Meanwhile, the fiery spark of love also ignites between Sarju and Shabnam, a duo yearning to unite in the sacred bond of marriage. Their plans are disrupted when Shabnam's father arranges her betrothal to a man of significant age and wealth, who has shown a distinct interest in her. A lavish engagement ceremony ensues, leaving Sarju heartbroken but undeterred. He embarks on a mission to persuade both Shabnam's father and her betrothed to reconsider their decisions, a quest that could shift the course of their lives irreversibly. The narrative of Bazaar (1982) explores the complexities of love and the societal pressures of tradition, unfolding a tale that resonates with the realities of life and love in tumultuous times.
