Plot

In the vibrant year of 1965, television actor and morning radio DJ, Bob Crane, finds himself amidst the pulsating rhythms of Los Angeles' KNX station. Balancing his love for photography and drumming with a burning desire for silver-screen fame, Crane reluctantly embraces the lead role in the quirky WWII sitcom, "Hogan's Heroes." Surprisingly, the show takes off, launching him into the dazzling stratosphere of television stardom. With his fame comes a deluge of temptations and indulgences, leading to a life-altering encounter with John Carpenter, a home video salesman and technician. United by their shared passions for carnal pleasures and capturing the allure of the female form on celluloid, they forge a tumultuous friendship. Crane's newfound status grants him access to a hedonistic lifestyle, a stark contrast to his wholesome, television-friendly persona and the image he projects to everyone - except Carpenter and his string of extramarital companions. His sexual addiction, barely concealed beneath the surface, is reluctantly ignored by his high-school sweetheart turned wife, Anne, but noticeably recognized by his second wife, Patti Olson, better known as Sigrid Valdis, his co-star in "Hogan's Heroes." As the sitcom concludes in 1971, the incongruity between Crane's public image and private life, coupled with his explosive relationship with Carpenter, sets the stage for a dramatic downfall. Despite riding the waves of the 60s and 70s, Crane's exploits, documented by Carpenter, would eventually plunge him into an abyss of scandal and suspicion. His life comes to a chilling halt in a Scottsdale, Arizona motel room in 1978, a murder mystery that remains unsolved, leaving a trail of speculation and intrigue that continues to echo in Hollywood's history.
